Dr. Trent L. Monson was born and raised in Naperville, Illinois as the youngest of six children. He grew up a competitor and loved playing sports. After sustaining a season-ending injury in football, he realized he wanted to enter the healthcare industry to help heal people and get them back to playing sports. Dr. Monson began exploring medical careers while attending college and discovered podiatry after a volleyball-related injury. Dr. Monson fell in love with the profession and quickly learned he could combine his love of sports with medicine and began working towards that goal. While attending university, Dr. Monson decided to spend two years with the people of Puerto Rico and the West Indies. It was there he became fluent in Spanish and grew to love Hispanic food and culture. Upon returning from the Caribbean, Dr. Monson attended Brigham Young University and received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science and Kinesiology with a minor in Spanish. Dr. Monson then went on to earn his doctorate in podiatric medicine from Barry University in Miami where he had the privilege of working side by side with the University of Miami and the Jackson Healthcare system.
